Ratz lab

Trang Hoang

Erasmus+ trainee

Trang Hoang joined the lab in October 2023, through the Erasmus+ program. Trang contributes to computational analyses of high-dimensional genomic data, such as single-cell RNA sequencing, to study neurodevelopmental disorders.

Trang is particularly interested in leveraging the power of bioinformatics and computational genomics to achieve a deeper understanding of the genetic foundations underlying diseases of the human central nervous system.
Trang graduated with an M.Sc. in Molecular Medicine at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin in 2023, with strong interest in transcriptional regulation during development. Trang conducted her Master’s thesis in the Junker Lab at the Berlin Institute of Medical Systems Biology Berlin (MDC-BIMSB) where she investigated the role of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeler during zebrafish embryogenesis using next-generation sequencing approaches, such as single-cell ATAC-Seq and RNA-Seq.

Trang's academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Molecular Medicine at the University of Regensburg obtained in 2021, where she explored the relevance of the C1q signaling pathway in astrocyte-mediated synaptic phagocytosis in major depressive disorder.

Outside the realm of academia, Trang finds joy in various sports such as cycling and dancing, as well as attending concerts.
